Privacy Policy

Effective October 13, 2026

The short version

  • What you record in Fara stays on your iPhone. We don’t run servers that store it, and we can’t see it.
  • There’s no account, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. We never sell or share your data.
  • Food searches and barcodes go to Open Food Facts to look up products. Nothing else about you goes with them.
  • If you connect Apple Health, Fara reads and saves the data you allow, on your iPhone.
  • Purchases of Fara Plus are handled by Apple, with Superwall showing the subscription screens. Neither receives your health records.

Who we are

Fara is an iPhone app for people living with PCOS, made by The Manhattan App Studio LLC, a New York limited liability company (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the Fara app and this website, fara.health. If you have a question about it, write to hello@fara.health.

What you record in Fara

Fara is built to work without an account or a server. Everything you enter is saved in the app’s own storage on your iPhone, protected by iOS file protection. This includes:

We don’t receive any of this. Because it lives on your iPhone, it’s included in your iPhone backups (iCloud or computer) if you use them, under Apple’s protection and your control. You can lock Fara with Face ID or your passcode in the app’s settings.

When information leaves your iPhone

Food search and barcodes: Open Food Facts

Fara includes a database of USDA foods that works offline. To find packaged and branded foods, Fara sends your search words, or the barcode you scan, to Open Food Facts, an open, non-profit food database. Like any website, Open Food Facts can see the IP address the request comes from. Fara doesn’t send your name, health records or any identifier with these requests. Open Food Facts’ own privacy policy applies to what they receive.

Apple Health (optional)

If you choose to connect Apple Health, Fara asks permission for each kind of data, and you can change your choice at any time in the Health app. With your permission, Fara:

This exchange happens on your iPhone, between Fara and Apple Health. Data from Apple Health is never sent to us, never used for advertising or marketing, and never shared with third parties. Data Fara saved in Apple Health stays there if you delete Fara; you can remove it in the Health app.

Fara Plus purchases: Apple and Superwall

Subscriptions are bought through the App Store, and Apple processes the payment. We never see your card details. Fara uses Superwall to show its subscription screens and check whether you have Fara Plus. Superwall receives technical information needed to do that, such as an anonymous app identifier, your device model, iOS version, language and region, which subscription screen was shown and your purchase status. Superwall doesn’t receive your health records. Its privacy policy applies to what it receives.

Sharing you choose

You can make a doctor report or export your records as a file. These are created on your iPhone and go only where you send them, using the iOS share sheet.

Permissions Fara may ask for

PermissionWhat it’s for
NotificationsReminders for medications and check-ins you set up. They’re scheduled on your iPhone; no server is involved.
CameraScanning barcodes and nutrition labels, and taking meal photos. Labels are read on your iPhone.
PhotosSaving a doctor report or meal photo to your photo library, only when you ask. Choosing a photo to add to a meal needs no permission.
Apple HealthReading and saving the data described above, only if you connect it.
Face IDLocking the app, only if you turn it on.

What we don’t do

This website

fara.health is a simple website with no cookies, analytics or advertising. It’s hosted by Vercel and served through Cloudflare, who process standard technical information, such as IP addresses, to deliver and protect the site. Its fonts load from Google Fonts.

Email

If you email us, we receive your email address and what you write, and keep the conversation to help you. We don’t add you to a mailing list.

Keeping and deleting your information

Your records stay on your iPhone until you delete them. You can delete everything from Fara in Me → Privacy & data → Delete all data, or by deleting the app. Copies in your iPhone backups follow Apple’s backup settings. Data saved to Apple Health is managed in the Health app.

Because we don’t hold your app records, we can’t access, correct or delete them for you, but you can do all of that yourself in the app. For emails you’ve sent us, write to hello@fara.health and we’ll delete them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including the EU, UK and US states such as California, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or move your personal information, and to object to how it’s used. As explained above, your Fara records are already in your hands. For anything else, contact us at hello@fara.health and we’ll respond within the time the law requires.

Children

Fara is meant for adults. It isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change how Fara handles information, we’ll update this page and its effective date. If a change is significant, we’ll also tell you in the app before it takes effect.
